Default Fun Dervish Builds

With a Dervish's 4 pips of regen and decent energy management, I've found it possible to play around with an elementalist, (smiting) Monk, and even Mesmer secondary.

Builds include RoJ, Savannah Heat, and even (lol) a CoP Echo build.

Any suggestions for builds that work (even if its just semi-decently) in PvE? Reaper's Sweep gets boring after a while and sometimes its fun to mess around with other builds. I'll never be matching the vast amounts of energy of a primary Elementalist, or the speed of a primary Mesmer, but they're fun builds nevertheless.

Utilizing skills from all four campaigns, of course. :)

Sand Shards with Signet of Midnight and a buttload of IAS with Eternal Aura is hilarious. The build looks like;

[Sand Shards][Signet of Midnight][Eternal Aura][Heart of Fury][Conviction][Optional][Optional]

I've seen this build on PvX for Raptor Farming. But even at 25 damage a pop with 15 Scythe Mastering, isn't the killing quite slow?

To that build, though, I'd augment it with GDA instead of Conviction.

The build on wiki is different than the one listed. And the wiki build for raptor farming is amazing. The kill is literally in 3 seconds...they all die at once.

Fun builds:

Zealous Vow - Infinite energy when when you're lazy.

RoJ JQ - Sweet capping with a Dervish.

Raptor Shard Bombing - Kill 20-24 raptors in a 45~ second run. It's fun to see them all explode, and it's a VERY well thought build.

I also like carrying around random PvE skills, like Summons, Sniper Support, or Light of Deldrimor.

I usually play as the only melee in snowmen, OR when I'm bored I'm going in as a fire caster, with high energy armor and staff, got like 57-60 energy if i recall correctly, using rodgort's GoLE, savnnah, EBSoH and everything very fun to be doing that. And as mentioned, Raptor shard bombing is fun, never tried RoJ but will try soon, and CoP Echo is also fun as hell, I've even been to VSF with it.

I can say from personal experience that no one expects the RoJ derv. Not even the spanish inquisition. It is a really fun build to play. Especially when you're fighting someone in melee and you cast it and they die because they can't get unstuck from you fast enough.

I also saw someone using Pious Renewal, Mystic Sandstorm, and a bunch of quick-activating enchantments for some nice nuking. One of these days I'm going to have to try it.

I had lots of fun in JQ lately playing around with a RoJ dervish. My favorite part is when a warrior comes charging in, starts attacking and missing due to Mirage Cloak, I use Mystic Regeneration and/or Vital Boon to build up some hp, and them BAM! RoJ, Castigation Signet/Bane Signet and it dies soon, probably due to confusion xD It's also funny dropping RoJ on shrines and running off with Pious Haste or something while having massive hp regen. Seems like people just don't know how to deal with you, and it's fun.

Using a D as a healer is also quite fun, specially in AB when most ppl donĀ“t expect it.

Glyph of Essence works really well with Phoenix, give it a try, it's fun Start with Glyph, Attacker's Insight, Heart of Fury, Wounding Strike, Victorious Sweep (Mystic or Eremite's or something) and then BAM! Phoenix. Insta-kill sometimes, it's funny.

...I so want to try an RoJ Derv now. Or a fire nuker. Just because the mental picture I have of that (as well as the reactions of whoever I'm playing with) is priceless.

I've also been meaning to try out a Mystic Sandstorm nuker, too, just because it sounds like fun. And also because my friend I usually play with would be like "um. What the heck did you just do?"

A Mystic Sandstorm nuker is fun, but doesn't dish out enough damage by itself. My friend and I tried syncing JQ once to try it out, and it was fun. Using Aura of Displacement to shadow step inside a shrine mob, with Faithful Intervention, Vital Boon, Mirage Cloak on. We then used some sort of AoE damage, like Dust Aura, and then bam! Mystic Twister, Mystic Sandstorm, and you're teleported out. Although we had to sync everything to kill the whole mob, it was fun.

...okay, that sounds pretty damn awesome. And the damage stack between Mystic Twister and Mystic Sandstorm = oww.

Yep, I'm noting this down to try in the future.

yes, mystic sandstorm is a very strong spike, its as poweful as shockwave (if you have mirage cloak), and then some with added degen and condtions at the end. However, its not really something a derv can use to kill someone with in 1 spike or spell chain. so i play my sandstorm builds as support healers also, pious renewal as elite..spam heals with pious light when you arent spiking. and when you see an opportunity (someone around half hp, or a group of enemies stacked up, etc) lay down the spike and youll be able to make a huge difference through your damage and healing. Makes a great support build
